I put boiling hot water in the bottle and went to sleep. I wanted to have hot water when I got up in the morning. Not even 8 hours later, the water is completely cold. When I received it and saw that it claims to keep hot items hot for 18 hours I was skeptical at first. I took some hot tap water and put it into the thermos. Took a temperature reading, 129°. After 14 hours I only lost 15°. The temperature reading on my thermometer was 114°. That is amazing, I was astounded! This productline is phenomenal and really does keep to its promises! Don’t even think twice about purchasing this product, get it now! I am going to get the same line, but in the food container, to bring a hot lunch to work. Keeps my tea hot for 12 hours, the cup is great for a quick drink and go when I'm at school or about to head out into the snow or coming in. Fits in your typical cup holders in the car, kids strollers, backpacks and etc. Quality item which is easy to clean. Make sure that after your done with your beverage, to do a quick rinse if you don't expect to clean it anytime soon. The reason I say that is it will save you a ton of time from build up of coffee stains and such and makes cleaning it a lot faster and less of a chore. This thermos is very hard to wash (the neck is narrow, and the bottle tall), even with a bottle brush. Plus the cup/cover isn't stainless steel -- it's silver-painted plastic!! Come on, man!! And shame on me for not checking before I bought it, but the plastic seal/plug is not BPA free! So unhappy with myself for wasting $25 on this! I really need a thermos for work, so I'm going to buy a Stanley. Much better quality. And this thermos? It will go in the give-away pile, if anybody wants it. The first 2 had suffered significant damage of my own doing, but were otherwise great too. What I didn't like about the others was the painted exterior, which looked pretty beat up after just a few drops.
